History

Established in 1969, ISTC was created as a not-for-profit members’ association for specialists in youth and student travel.

In 2006, SATA became a sector association of the World Youth Student & Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation.

The World Youth Student & Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation is a dynamic, professionally managed not-for-profit organisation, comprising 550+ members, representing the global community of youth travel, student travel and international education specialists.

With a network of 5000 locations in 118 countries, Confederation members provide international travel and educational experiences for more than 10 million students and youth each year.

WYSE Travel Confederation works with its members, sector associations and partners around the globe to:

  • Promote the personal, social, economic and cultural benefits of youth travel, student travel and international education
  • Support the development and success of student and youth travel specialists, and the critical role they play in a multi billion Euro global niche industry.

  • Develop innovative travel and educational products & services for youth and  students, such as the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), language study programmes, and work abroad experiences
  • Support the World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC)
  • Provide trading, networking and knowledge-sharing platforms
  • Produce and distribute cutting-edge research and market intelligence
